About me

I’m Robbie and here’s what I’m all about.

I am both a business and creative minded person who aims to create work that is engaging, functional and visually striking. I’m a communicator, marketer, strategic planner, designer, photographer, kinesiologist and most importantly a “doer.” I have a diverse background in sport, health, the arts and business; and hold a strong framework of work experience in marketing, communications, strategic planning, philanthropy, project management, partnership building, health and fitness.

On a personal level, I am a former competitive athlete, musician, foodie and social butterfly. In my free time you’ll find me hitting the gym, curling, running marathons, hiking mountains and in or on the water. Indoors you’ll find me playing or listening to music, attending concerts/shows, cooking and baking recipes from Pinterest, hosting theme parties, and experiencing new activities purchased from Groupon.

For the past decade I have worked in the sport and health sector where I have built a strong business acumen. I have created and implemented strategic business, communication and marketing plans, and have been the story-teller for organizations while working within government and International Olympic Committee guidelines. I have also been involved in successfully identifying and pitching sponsorship and partnering opportunities to companies such as Tim Hortons, Best Western, Canadian Direct Insurance and Flight Centre.

I have been responsible for building personal relationships with media across British Columbia, by leveraging connections with reporters from outlets such as Global Television and The Province and The Vancouver Sun newspapers. I have also organized media conferences for provincial and national announcements, and managed events in venues such as the Richmond Olympic Oval. As well I have been responsible for monitoring commercial advertising for national television properties.

I have created multiple websites and have used online tools such as Twitterfeed, Hootsuite, Google Analytics and Bitly to promote, track and analyze digital media initiatives for audiences of 40,000+ users. As well, I have utilized email communication tools such as MailChimp to reach customers directly in their inboxes.

My weapons of choice are Microsoft Office, WordPress, Canon Rebel T1i, MacBook Pro and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

I have created this website as an outlet for me to share my work, interests and inspirations. I also hope that it will enable me to hear from and interact with new people and networks that I would otherwise not have the opportunity to. I’d like to encourage you to contact me with your comments, resources and/or opportunities that you think I may be interested in. In the meantime, take a look around the site and enjoy the view.
